AEW Discusses Contract with Ex-WWE Star Deonna Purrazzo

TL:DR: Former Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo is reportedly in talks with AEW for a potential contract, with AEW being her preferred destination. While she has also had minimal contact with WWE, her past experience with the company and its current approach to free agents make it less likely. Purrazzo’s contract with Impact/TNA has expired, and she continues to be in demand on the indie circuit.

AEW Contract Talks

According to Fightful Select, AEW and Deonna Purrazzo have been in discussions about a potential contract. AEW is hopeful about signing the former Impact Knockouts Champion, and the feeling appears to be mutual. Purrazzo, whose contract with Impact/TNA has already expired, has listed AEW as her preferred landing spot. She had previously wrestled one match for AEW while signed to Impact, losing to Mercedes Martinez in a unification match to crown the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

Contact with WWE

Purrazzo has also been in brief contact with WWE, where she worked from 2018 to 2020. However, the contact between the two sides has been minimal, as WWE has tabled most talks with upcoming free agents until the start of the new year. Purrazzo has been open about her dissatisfaction during her time in WWE, where she was used sparingly before being released during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indie Circuit Demand

Despite the ongoing talks with major promotions, Purrazzo remains in demand on the indie circuit. Several indie promoters have inquired about her availability. Although she has continued to work indie dates since joining Impact, Purrazzo has made them less of a priority since 2022, working only four matches outside of Impact in 2023.
